Weddings – Royal & Common – Share Your Memories

Me and hubby 12 years ago.I love weddings. If I could pick any event to go to this weekend, a wedding would be on my short list. I had so much fun planning my husband’s and my wedding. I also gladly helped out with my sister’s recent nuptials.  There is not much to me that is more meaningful than being witness to two people in love joining together to start their family and life together. Call me a romantic, but I think it is simply beautiful.

Prince William and Kate.A certain wedding has been in the news a lot lately. On April 29, 2011 Prince William will marry his fiancé Kate Middleton. The world is abuzz with chatter ranging from excitement to ridicule. I am just happy to see a wedding: the music, the flowers, the prayers, the poetry, the tears and the laughter. Most of the time weddings are a time when families come together and rejoice. Most of the time weddings bring people together and allow them to let their hair down and celebrate.

All this talk about the royal wedding has got me reflecting on my own wedding day and on other wedding days that I have had the pleasure of experiencing. I thought it would be fun to share one to two of your wedding memories here.  So how about it?  I will list some memories and then you can share yours.

The girls before my sister's wedding. My best wedding memory was seeing my soon-to-be husband’s face when he saw me start walking down the aisle. He was all smiles and had the most beautiful twinkle in his eyes. I knew for sure I had a man who loved me.  My most recent memorable wedding moments were at my sister’s wedding last year. The few hours we spent together getting ready were amazing. We chatted and hung out with other women in the family and just had some awesome girl time. It was a special time I will never forget.

Now it’s your turn! What are your favorite wedding memories? Feel free to leave comments. Share and let’s talk about it.

Janice – I loved your wedding! My best memories were seeing you two so happy and surrounded by family. And watching my brother Tommy dance! I think he got a little practice or something. My wedding was a hot summer in 1981 in our back yard with the guests sitting around our pool. I loved the simplicity to it all and the tremendous help from my mother-in-law and friends because we were broke (just bought our first house the year before). My favorite memories are again seeing all my family and the happiness. And one of my most favorite memories is when my Uncle Bill said, let's all go to my house in Mission Viejo, bring your friends! Really? How nice. Not planned at all. (Don and I were scheduled to go to Catalina Island in a few days, then Pismo Beach camping) My best friend and family members all piled in a few cars and drove to his house, where my cousin Kirk played his guitar and we sang and laughed and told stories until the wee hours. Don and I snuck out that night and got a hotel room in Laguna Beach! Beautiful! You just can't replace good memories. I will always have them! Tracy P.S. Oh, another fave memory, when the minister said "I do" a few of my guest dove in the pool fully clothed because it was so bloomin hot!

  2. I remember your wedding as well. I can say that your hubby was looking at you like he had seen a beautiful angel, so full of love for you. I remember playing " when I Fall in Love " for you guys. Its a day I will always remember for many reasons. I love weddings too!

  3. Thanks for the kind words about my wedding, ladies.
Tracy, your wedding sounds like it was a blast!

Your wedding was beautiful, and I remember it like it were yesterday. Your reception was so much fun, I remember dancing the night away and watching you and Eric sneak away. The most memorable thing I remember about you was your smile as you walked down the aisle. You were so happy. My wedding was amazing because I had you for a whole month to help me plan. The most memorable moment at my wedding for me was when I looked over at Bob while our vows were being read and he was crying, and I knew how special I was to him at that very moment. He has never let me down, and I thank God for him daily. Having my sister Janice be my maid of honor was heaven sent. I have never bonded with somebody in such a short amount of time. We were best friends for an entire month, and she worked so hard to make sure everything was perfect. Words can never express the love and joy you brought to me that day. Thanks again big sissy!

  6. Hi, I'm following from the Social Parade – nice to meet you! I enjoyed reading about your wedding. I'm glad your husband smiled at you – unfortunately I cried walking down the aisle, it was so very emotional – all my friends turned to look at me and the love on their faces, in their eyes – I just cried 🙂 If you have time, can you tell me how you got the picture on your Blogger header – I want mine off to the side like that and I cannot make it happen. But! I followed your blog!
